What is the Difference Between Our Two Brightening Serums?

The future is looking bright - our most asked-after serums are back!

We know you’ve been waiting for this - Brightening Serums Level 1 and 2 are back and better than ever! Harnessing the clarifying power of only the best, clinically-proven, skin-brightening ingredients in a silky serum for regular use.

Unwanted dark Spots? Discoloured, uneven skin?

A brighter, more evenly toned complexion is a much-coveted skin goal. Yet anyone who has experienced pigmentation or melasma knows the struggle of achieving this.

Uneven skin tone can be caused in several ways. Some people deal with discolouration due to genetics, others during times of hormonal fluctuation such as pregnancy or medication. Dark patches can also be caused by external factors such as sun exposure or the after effects of inflammation-induced pigmentation after spots, acne and ingrown hairs - whether you pick them or not!

Discoloured spots and an uneven skin tone isn’t a bad thing - it doesn’t hurt you in any way but many people find it a source of annoyance. If this sounds like you, these serums have your name on them.

The Brightening Serums are complexion-correction serums formulated for evening out skin tone, improving the look of discoloured skin and restoring radiance. Brimming with discolouration-fighting ingredients and balanced with skin-soothing, calming anti-inflammatories such as Allantoin and Vitamin E.

What’s new about the Brightening Serums?

Get excited - Level 2 is now fortified with Alpha-Arbutin AND Tranexamic Acid for superior complexion-correcting power. Keep reading for more info on all the best brightening ingredients for a more even skin tone.

Why this is the only Brightening Serum you need:

Unlike typical, effective, pigmentation-fighting actives that make skin more sun sensitive (hydroxy acids, retinoids, hydroquinone) both Brightening Serums Level 1 & 2 can be worn during the day and during summer. Freeing you from the anxiety of possible sun-induced damage (and further discolouration) when out enjoying the sun.

Irritation is also a problem with these ingredients as well as with potent Vitamin Cs - not everyone can tolerate them regularly enough to see any results. Which is what makes this product different to other brightening and dark spot- correcting serums. Silky soft and suitable for regular use - you’ll soon notice a more even, more luminous complexion.

The Brightening Serum Level 2 - dark spot corrector with Tranexamic Acid

Our newest, most potent treatment is the Brightening Serum Level 2 with Alpha-Arbutin an antioxidant backed by research to fade discolouration and even out skin tone. It inhibits the formation of melanin on the skin by blocking tyrosinase, the enzyme that produces dark spots. It also includes Tranexamic Acid, another hot ingredient that the beauty sphere is raving about. Clinical studies using Tranexamic Acid have found stand-out results in reduction of melasma / hormonal pigmentation (Banihashemi, et al., 2015). The reason this is so exciting is that melasma is notoriously hard to treat and frequently recurs. This level 2 serum really packs a punch yet is suitable for normal skin types to use daily.

Features of the Brightening Serum Level 2

  • Contains game-changing, skin tone-evening ingredients - Alpha-Arbutin and Tranexamic Acid

The Brightening Serum Level 1

Our Level 1 Serum still includes superb brightening ingredients to give you an even complexion. But does not include Alpha-Arbutin or Tranexamic Acid, meaning this one is safe during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Handy for the pesky pregnancy skin changes that often occur during this time thanks to hormonal fluctuations.

Why are there two levels of the Brightening Serum?

We know that skin discolouration and melasma is a concern of many women during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Alpha-Arbutin is not recommended during this time therefore the option of Level 1 still allows a powerful brightening product for those who need it. The difference between the Level 1 and Level 2 Serums? Level 2 contains all the same ingredients as Level 1, but with the added power of Alpha-Arbutin and Tranexamic Acid.

Final Note on dark spots and skin discolouration:

Dark spots are notoriously hard to fade - topical skincare can only do so much. While the ingredients chosen are clinically-proven, the active ingredients take both time and regular use to work on stubborn dark spots, at least 6 weeks. Ensure you are rigorously applying sunscreen as a part of your skin-brightening routine.
