We still include the heavy hitters like our trusty Salicylic Acid Wash Gel, and ‘zit zapping’ Intensive Spot Serum. Now included in the anti-acne gang is the Multi Fruit Acid Serum, Retinol Oil 0.5% and the iconic Deep Hydration Moisture Cream.
There is a lot of clinical research around acne, blemishes and spots that points to skin barrier function as a necessary element in keeping spots at bay. This can be vaguely summed up in three parts:
1. Include ingredients that are effective against acne
2. Support and fortify the skin barrier, reducing inflammation and allowing you to stick to the routine, improving its effectiveness.
Removing the grime of the day is important for keeping buildup that causes acne at bay. The Clear Skin Face Wash effectively removes make-up and debris without stripping your skin. Use it as a body wash for all over acne treatment if you’re also struggling with bacne or chestne.
As well as fighting acne, it is important to support the skin barrier and keep your skin moisturised and hydrated. Dry and dehydrated skin can result in reduced desquamation and blocked pores, it also encourages sebum production through the hair follicles catalysing blemishes and breakouts. The result is congestion and a lackluster complexion. The Deep Hydration Moisture Cream contains unique hyaluronic acids (Zinc Hyaluronate, Hyalorepair & Sodium Hyaluronate) to target, fortify and retain hydration within the skin. As well as lipids to mimic the composition of the skin barrier such as ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids, supporting the skin’s natural healing abilities and barrier function. Ceramides are instrumental in the skin barrier function and topical ceramides help improve this function which is essential for assisting acne-affected skin.
Containing 2% Salicylic Acid as well as fruit extracts containing alpha hydroxy acids, a proven chemical exfoliant to clear out and unclog pores and help remove the bacteria and debris lurking beneath. Calming and anti-inflammatory it also helps with the redness that often comes with those angry, red spots.
Yes, our favourite wrinkle-prevention solution also works against pimples! Retinol helps limit key factors of what causes blemishes. It does this by increasing skin cell turnover, regulating oil production and reducing over keratinised skin cells within hair follicles that can block pores. What’s better, our Essentials Pure Retinol is delivered in Luxurious Plant Oils, which calm and support the skin. Featuring ultra-soothing, skin-loving ingredients. Don’t forget to always apply sunscreen during the day when using retinol!
A fast absorbing, gel-like lotion to target spots and break-outs. Containing Niacinamide, Ethyl Linoleate, Vitamin E, Allantoin, Panthenol, Willow Bark and Grape Seed Extract to support the skin barrier and calm the skin. It also contains Bakuchiol, Sulfopeptides and Amino Acids to regulate oil production.
