Restore the Reef
How you’re helping: $50 = prevents 1 tonne of sediment from reaching the Great Barrier Reef
The survival of our planet depends on healthy coral reefs and The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s most extensive coral reef ecosystem and it is right on our doorstep! It is home to thousands of species of marine life including fish, whales, dolphins and six of the world’s seven species of marine turtle. Not only a spectacular visual attraction, the GBR is crucial to sustainability as it absorbs carbon from the atmosphere and stores it, cleaning our air and helping mitigate the effects of climate change.
Protect a Woman
How you’re helping: $50 = provides a hot meal and a safe, comfortable place to stay for one night
Across Australia, around 56,000 women are homeless each night, many with young children and existing services cannot meet the demand for crisis accommodation for these women, especially so during the COVID pandemic. Women’s Community Shelters works with communities to establish new shelters, which provide short term emergency accommodation and support in a safe environment that enables homeless women to rebuild self-esteem and achieve control and fulfilment of their lives.
Empower with Literacy
How you’re helping: $12 = pays for a day of specialised literacy support in an Indigenous community
Being able to read and write is essential to success in life, most of us take it for granted but literacy unlocks the door to a world of endless possibilities. Sadly, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children continue to fall through the cracks of our education system and an estimated 40% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults have minimal English literacy. The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation is committed to creating sustainable, long-term change through community-driven, best practice literacy programs.
