Tyrosinase is a naturally occurring enzyme that produces melanin in cells. Melanin is the pigment that gives skin its colour. When your skin is exposed to UV light, inflammation, or hormonal changes, tyrosinase becomes more active.
That increased activity = more melanin production = more uneven skin tone and pigmentation
Tyrosinase Inhibitors work by blocking the production of melanin which causes your skin to have dark spots. Ingredients known as tyrosinase inhibitors either reduce or slow down melanin synthesis, therefore limiting the formation of dark spots or aggravation of existing ones.
Although efficient, keep in mind that since pigment reduction is a slow process, these ingredients need time and constant application to provide satisfying results.
